Splinters in the heart

We all have splinters in our hearts. Some may be recent, others may have been embedded since our childhood/adolescence. But God has brought you here today because you have recognized that your splinter(s) are responsible for your offensive and/or defensive behavior. Maybe even for your lack of self-esteem, your arrogance, or pride. You've taken the first step in recognizing it, now take the next step in giving God access to your heart so that He may remove them. Keep in mind that one of the ways God operates is through other people. So, you may need to intentionally seek professional/godly counsel and commit to strengthening your relationship with Christ through discipleship and accountability. Ready? Then, say this prayer with all sincerity, commit to God, and trust Him.

Dear Father in heaven, you know me better than anyone else, including myself. Without a doubt, there are splinters in my heart that have affected me emotionally and spiritually. I ask you to please come and remove them all. I know it may be painful, but I do not want them to continue infecting my soul. I surrender my will, stubbornness, pride, and any fear that has kept me from coming to you for help. I repent of all the hurt I have caused others. And just as you have forgiven me, I forgive all those who have hurt me. I want to live the rest of my life for your glory being free of guilt, anger, and shame. As you remove those splinters and heal the open wounds, help me to grow stronger in the power of your Holy Spirit so that I may be able to help others who also have splinters in their hearts. May my life experiences and the healing thereof serve as a testimony of your great mercy, grace, and unconditional love. As of today, I claim that I am splinter-free. In the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, Amen!
